Is Loftia free?
No. Loftia is not free. It is buy-to-play at $29.99 USD, or $24.89 with the 17% launch discount. The demo that runs October 19–26, 2026 is free. Early Access is a separate purchase.
The search that keeps showing up next to this game is “will it be free,” especially in Spanish. I read the FAQ line that Loftia will be buy-to-play, then the demo page, which keeps the free demo and the paid Early Access in different sentences. Steam’s API also returns is_free: false for app 2320980. The mix-up is easy if you have just come from Heartopia or Palia, which are free to start.
Why people expect it to be free
Three different “free” things get collapsed into one. The demo is free. Steam Next Fest access is free. Heartopia and Palia let you start without buying the game. None of those facts change Loftia’s price.
The FAQ says you only need to pay once to access all gameplay. There is no subscription. The cosmetic shop does not sell power. Switch owners will still pay Nintendo for Switch Online if they want online play on that console later; that fee is Nintendo’s, and the Switch version itself is not out.

No. Mac is the same purchase as Windows, on Steam or Epic. There is no separate free Mac build.
Does the cosmetic shop change the price?
The game price is the one-time purchase. Backer Boutique and Community Pass sell cosmetics only, according to the demo page.
