Loftia beginner guide
Your first session is a loop of salvage, crafting, farming, and building on a floating island, with no combat. The one recipe this page will state as fact is the hammer: Project Station level 1, 5 Screws, and 5 Plastic Discards.
The hammer recipe comes from Loftia Codex: Project Station level 1, Screws ×5, Plastic Discards ×5. Scrap Wire is gathered at the Solar Farm in Loftia City from old microwaves, salvaging crates, and wire piles. Hazel is the official seed-shop owner. The placement keys below come from loftiadex’s demo footage notes, rather than an official keyboard chart.
Your first-session checklist
Use this as an order for checking the opening systems, not as a timed speedrun. Follow the current quest tracker when a patch changes a prerequisite.
- Follow the introductory quests and their tool prompts before spending materials on decoration.
- Gather salvage for the Project Station: check buckets and crates for Screws, bottles and crates for Plastic Discards.
- At Project Station level 1, craft the basic Hammer with 5 Screws and 5 Plastic Discards.
- Visit Hazel for seeds and follow the planting prompt on your island. Check the Tool Wheel mapping in Settings.
- Charge your portable battery from solar panels, then use it to power the workstation you need.
- Try decorating with the demo controls below. Confirm any changed bindings in your own control list.
- Continue Ryder’s opening Adventure and the demo walkthrough. Do not make Hanging Gardens or Gridfall a demo objective.
The hammer
Craft it at a Project Station that has reached level 1. The Codex cost is 5 Screws and 5 Plastic Discards. Higher hammer levels exist after that; the equipment table lists levels 2 and 3 as later crafts, not as something you start with.
Screws come from salvaging buckets and crates. Plastic Discards come from plastic bottles and crates. Scrap Wire is gathered around the Solar Farm in Loftia City: an Old Microwave gives 1, a Salvaging Crate gives 3–4, and a Wire Pile gives 1–2. The Codex lists it as an ingredient in Battery level 2, a cooking station, a refining station, and a small solar panel.
Seeds and the first plots
Hazel runs the seed shop and is the NPC the official site associates with teaching farming. Seeds are a shop purchase and a gather, not a code. The demo quest line ends before Hanging Gardens, so treat garden routes that depend on that district as Early Access, not as demo objectives.
Solar panels recharge the portable battery, which powers crafting stations. Charge the battery before attempting station work. The sources checked do not establish a required flower list for island upgrades: use the exact quest and item names shown in your current build before spending materials.
Placing items
loftiadex’s island-building guide records these keyboard actions from demo footage. Confirm them in the current control list. The official FAQ also says the game is fully playable on controller.
