Loftia vs Palia
Palia is free to start on Steam, from Singularity 6, available there since March 25, 2024, with in-app purchases and cross-platform multiplayer. Loftia is a separate buy-to-play game from Qloud Games, $29.99 in the US, entering Early Access on November 3, 2026.
We compared the Steam listings, Palia's official homepage and support articles, and Loftia's FAQ on October 23, 2026. Palia supports optional NPC romance and cross-platform play. Loftia has no romance at this stage, while cross-play remains under investigation. Neither comparison treats an old test target as Loftia's current server capacity.
What is safe to compare
Palia's official homepage lists Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as available now. Its announced Switch 2 edition is a separate upcoming release; this table does not treat it as already available.

How to choose
Choose Loftia if the solarpunk island, the one-time price, and a game that is still about to enter Early Access are what you want. Choose Palia if you want a free online town that is already on Steam and you accept an in-game store.
Loftia has an Apple-silicon Mac listing, while Palia's Steam listing is Windows-only. For Palia progress across supported devices, follow its official cross-platform account-linking guide and use the same Palia account. This is distinct from Loftia's unconfirmed cross-play plans.

Is Loftia just Palia with a price?
No. Different studio, different setting, different business model, and Loftia is not on Steam as a released game yet.
Does Loftia have romance like people expect from Palia?
Loftia’s FAQ says there is no romance. Friendship with NPCs is planned and not live.
How many players are on a Loftia server?
The FAQ does not give a cap. A 2023 blog mentioned concurrency tests. That is not a current population number.
